Mr. William "Bill" Patterson's Obituary
William “Bill” Patterson passed away peacefully at home May 9th. He is preceded in death by his parents: Walter Patterson and Jane Lackey, his wife: Hazel Hubbard Patterson, six brothers: Calbert (Eunice), Ray (Lucille), Dennis, Artis (Dot), Bruce, Berlin, one sister: Bertie Lee (A.M.) and one son: Douglas Horn (Marie Smelley). He is survived by his sister, Inez Jenkins, his granddaughters Melinda Horn Robinson (Richard) and Margaret Horn Cargile (Phillip), his grandchildren, Ricky Robinson and David Robinson, his great grandchildren (Breana, Kayden, and Blair), and many nieces, nephews, grand nieces, and grand nephews.
Mr. Patterson was a farmer and businessman, but his true passion was his first job as a car mechanic. He loved cars and farm equipment and tinkered well into his nineties. He and his late wife Hazel brought joy to Eastern Alabama with their popular annual Christmas light display.
The family would like to thank his wonderful caregivers: his niece Jackie Hurley, longtime family friend Elaine Mitchell, and Judy Rouse along with the staff of Amedisys Home Health and Amedisys Hospice.
Pallbearers will be Matt Adams, Phillip Cargile, Kim Cosby, Steve Griffin, Bob Luker, Mike Patterson, and Jerry Smelley. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Howle, Donnie Lindley, Buck Miller, George Mitchell, Scott Mitchell, and Dr. Rudy Vargas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a donation to your favorite charity in Mr. Patterson’s honor.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, from 1:00PM-3:00PM in the Talladega Funeral Home Chapel for visitation. A graveside service will follow at 3:00PM at Pine Hill Memorial Park with Rev. Ken Griffin officiating. Talladega Funeral Home will direct the service.
