Waldon Key's Obituary
Funeral Services for Mr. Waldon Reginald Key, 84 of Talladega, will be Saturday, July 21 at 11 AM at Talladega Funeral Home with Rev. Harvey Bowlin officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Hill Memorial Park. The family will be receiving friends tonight from 6 to 8 pm at the funeral home. Mr. Key went home to be with the Lord Wednesday night, July 18, 2012 with his loving family by his side.
Mr. Key was born on Sept. 15, 1927 in Tifton, Georgia, and was the son of Sam and Vora Key. A resident of Talladega for many years, Waldon was often referred to as the Bible Man because he purchased and handed out Bibles to many people. In the 1940s, Waldon worked at both the Ritz and Paramount theaters and Bemis Company in Talladega. He later worked various jobs in California, Michigan, and Pennsylvania.
He is survived by his two daughters Veronica Key Smith (Phil) of Talladega and Sheena Key of Phoenixville, Penn., four grandchildren Shereene Pugh (Charles) of Childersburg, Meredith Krause (Brian) of DeWitt, Michigan, Dwayne Key of Talladega, and Jacob Phinnessee of Phoenixville, Penn.
Mr. Key was preceded in death by his parents, his two sisters Pauline and Annie, and eight brothers Valiant, Jeff, Palmer, Thurston, Quay, Walter, Hiram, and Clarence.
