preceded in death by her father, Quinton Macon, her mother, Louise (Browning) Macon, two
sisters Helen Macon, and Carolyn (Macon) Shepherd. She is survived by her husband, Bro. Clyde
Pettus, her son, Clint Pettus, and daughter, Kim Hazel (husband Jim), four precious
grandchildren, Sharilyn Pettus, Cristen (Pettus) McClelland, (husband Brady), Jessica Hazel, and
Emma Hazel, two sisters-in-law, Kathy Howell, (husband Edward), Faye Carter, (husband John)
and many friends. Pallbearers are Jim Hazel, Brady McClellan, Randy Dobbs, Randy Berry, Ken
Robinson, and Pete Gaither. Honorary pallbearers are John Carter, Edward Howell, Brent
Howell, Trey Carter, Jeromy Carter, Harold Webster, Jerry McKee, Sam Curvin, Donald Dobbs,
Colvin Burk, and Terry Britt. Miss Jennie was born in Talladega County. She began school in
Bemiston, and when her family moved out into the county, she attended Idalia Elementary, and
eventually in the seventh grade moved up to Lincoln High School, where she met her future
husband, Clyde Pettus. She was playing softball with her P.E. class, and Clyde saw her and
thought she was the prettiest girl he had ever seen. He went out and talked to her, and thus
began a love that lasted almost 61 years, and continues to this day, even though she is in
Heaven waiting on him to join her. She worked as a Teacher’s Assistant in Talladega County for
a number of years, eventually coming back home and was happy to be a housewife and
homemaker. When her husband (Bro. Clyde) was called to preach the gospel, she faithfully
stood by him. When he was off preaching revivals she helped her children with homework, and
saw that all their needs were met. She sang alto in the church choir. She was always a quiet
person, letting others have all the praise. It was enough that she knew God, her husband, and
her family loved her. In her life she made beautiful ceramics, specializing in angels and Santa
Claus figurines. When her husband would visit sick people in the hospital, she would often send
a ceramic angel she had painted to the sick person, even though she may not have known them. She never won great awards in her life, but she leaves behind a great example of what
a Christian, a mother, a grandmother, and a preacher’s wife should be. Her faith lives on in her
children and grandchildren, who are all born again Christians, and know they will all see her
again in that land of eternal life. We will see her in the sunshine that warms the land, the rain
that waters the earth, the wind that provides a cool breeze, the moon that provides a light at
night, the stars that twinkle above, and most of all the great love that God provides to all His
children. She’s home in Heaven now where Alzheimer's and Dementia will never bother her
again. Special thanks to the Enhabit Hospice Team, especially Miss Tori, Miss Betty, and Miss
Magen for all the visits and great care they gave. Also, a very special thanks to Mrs. Janice
(Brian) Gaither for her special help all during Miss Jennie’s sickness. She was always faithful to
come and help take care of Miss Jennie. Special thanks to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church for
standing by our family during this trying time. God bless you all. If I forgot anyone, I deeply
apologize to you. Bro. Clyde Pettus. Talladega Funeral Home will direct the service.
