Mr. Thomas "Tommy" Hugh Knight's Obituary
Ohatchee-Mr. Thomas “Tommy” Hugh Knight, age 86, passed away surrounded by the love of his family. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Tommy lived a life rooted in faith, love, and quiet strength.
He is lovingly survived by his wife, Diane Knight, who stood faithfully by his side through the many seasons of life. He also leaves behind his children: Kenneth Guy Knight (Tammy), Kippy Andrew Knight (Allison), Kelly Jo Knight, Lori Mitchell, and Lisa Walton. Tommy was a proud grandfather to thirteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him immeasurable joy. His love for his family—especially his grandchildren—was evident in every story he told and every moment he shared.
He is also survived by his brother, Guy L. “Jimmy” Knight (Darla), and his sister, Kathy Slick (Tom), along with a host of extended family members and dear friends.
Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Sara Knight; his son, Darrin Patterson; his sister, Joy Pressley; and his son-in-law, David Mitchell.
A man of deep and abiding faith, Tommy loved Jesus and served his church faithfully as a deacon and Sunday school teacher, roles he carried with both humility and dedication. He found great joy in the outdoors and had a deep appreciation for nature. Known for his gift of storytelling, Tommy had a way of bringing people together, often sharing stories that will be remembered and retold for years to come. He also had a fondness for Dodge, a simple joy that brought a smile to those who knew him well.
Tommy will be remembered for his steady presence, his strong faith, and the love he poured into his family and community. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched.
A time of visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Cosby Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Immanuel Baptist Church, with Pastor Stephen Collins and Rev. Kevin Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Kippy Knight, Chris McDaniel, Jesse Martinez, Guy Knight, Jay Lambert, and Alex Walton. Honorary pallbearers will be Blaine Leach, Drew Knight, and Lyndon Walton.
Cosby Funeral Home will direct the service.
