Talladega-Mrs. Sharon Downey Kent, 82, passed away on Friday, August 8, 2025.
Mrs. Kent is preceded in death by her husband: Earl Kent; mother: Verna Lucille Wolfe; father: Thomas Arthur Downey; brother: Henry Arthur Downey. She is survived by 2 sons: Kenny Knight (Tammy), Kippy Knight (Alison); 2 daughters: Kelly Jo Knight, Tina Tyndall; 2 sisters: Daria Knight (Jimmy), Karadene Burns; 9 grandchildren: Kirby Vinson (Bailey), Kasady Lambert (Jay), Savanah Knight, Emma Knight, Sam Matthews, John Matthews, Alex Breneff, Christy Tyndall, and Robbie Tyndall; 10 great grandchildren: CJ Vinson, Baylor Vinson, Madysyn Lambert, Corbin Bagwell, Callie Bagwell, Trey Stowe, Jaiden Stowe, Avery Tyndall, Cyrus Tyndall, and Julius Tyndall; 2 great great grandchildren. Mrs. Kent was a long-time member and past association manager of Talladega Bowling Association/USBC and a devoted member and encourager of Stockdale Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at Stockdale Baptist Church from 2:00pm-3:00pm on Sunday, August 10, 2025, for visitation. The service will follow at 3:00pm at the church with Rev. Kevin Jones and Rev. David Gaither officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery with Bailey Vinson, Jay Lambert, Kenny Williams, John McCoy, Devin Morgan, and Justin Moak serving as pallbearers. Talladega Funeral Home will direct the service.
