Ms. Mary Smith Wills' Obituary
On August 16, 2016, Mary Smith Wills went to sleep here on earth and awoke in the presence of her Lord and Savior. She was 85 years old.
Our Mom was a kind, loving and sacrificing woman who loved her family. She gave her love unconditionally and taught us the same. She lived her life in front of her children the way God instructed in his Word. She instilled in her children a strong work ethic, not retiring completely until in her seventies.
She gave her life to Christ March 3, 1963 and has been a faithful servant of her Lord at Cragdale Baptist Church since that day, doing whatever was necessary for him and her church. She held the office of Sunday School Secretary, worked with Vacation Bible School and sang in the choir, Training Union Director, Women’s Ministry Programs, and Sunday School Teacher.
She is preceded in death by her parents Grover and Norma Smith, her husband Curtis Wills, son Frankie Wills, and several sisters and brothers.
She is survived by one sister, Lucy (John) Hollingsworth of Texas; one daughter, Dot (Mic) Barnett; five sons: Curtis Wills, Billy Ray Wills, Terry Wills, Matt Wills and Leslie Wills; six grandchildren: Mickey Barnett, Chad Barnett, Tracey Taylor, Brook Dabbs, Tiffany Cooper and Curtis Wills; eighteen great grandchildren who called her GiGi, and several nieces and nephews. She also is survived by the best friend anyone could ever ask for Faye “BABY” Melon. Words cannot express just what you have meant to her and us over the years.
Special Thanks to Coosa Valley Hospice and a special blessing for Jody, Lisa, Annie, Carolyn and Makeisa. Your thoughtfulness and patience was greatly appreciated. We would also like to extend thanks and love to Connie Tucker, niece, who helped care for our mom.
The family will receive friends Thursday, August 18, 2016 from 6 to 8 PM, and Friday beginning at 12 PM at Talladega Funeral Home. The funeral service for Ms. Wills will be held Friday, August 19, 2016 at 1 PM at Talladega Funeral Home with burial following at Midway Memory Gardens. Presiding over the service will be Bro. Mic Barnett, her son-in-law, and Bro. Charles Stone and Bro. Granville Gauldin.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Mickey Barnett, Chad Barnett, and Curtis Wills, great grandson Mickey Barnett II, and grandsons-in-law Brad Cooper and Daniel Dabbs, and a very special honorary pallbearer Wayne Melon.
