Mr. John Wesley Murphy's Obituary
Talladega- Mr. John Wesley Murphy, age 64, of Talladega, Alabama, passed away on December 1, 2025. Born and raised in Talladega, John enjoyed the simple pleasures of life and took pride in caring for his yard, spending countless peaceful hours mowing grass, fishing, and cheering on SEC football. He also proudly served with the Talladega Rescue Squad for 30 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Olin and Jewel Blackwood Murphy; one brother, Bill Blackwood; and three sisters, Judy Murphy, Marie Franklin, and Suzie Franklin.
John is survived by his loving wife, Brenda Murphy; stepdaughter, Amy Scott; sister, Connie Franklin; sister-in-law, Linda Griffith; and brothers-in-law, David Franklin and Larry Franklin. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews who will cherish his memory.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 5, 2025, in the Talladega Funeral Home Chapel from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. The service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel with Rev. Doug Whaley officiating. Burial will take place at Midway Memory Gardens with Billy Smith, Joseph Smith, David Franklin Sr., David Franklin Jr., Christian Edwards, and Leyland Wildes serving as pallbearers. Talladega Funeral Home will direct the service.
