John Ray Farmer's Obituary
John Ray Farmer, 75, passed away at his residence May 19, 2018. The family will be receiving friends Wednesday, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. Brother Glen Edmonds will officiate. Interment will be at Pine Hill Memorial Park. Mr. Farmer was a lifelong resident of Talladega and was Baptist by faith. During his high school years, he played basketball at Winterboro High School and softball for Newberry Foundry. He started working at Newberry Foundry and worked his way up to Pattern Maker then left Newberry for Southern Ductile Casting Corporation as a Tooling Engineer. He coached T-ball when his son was small and loved to hunt and fish. Mr. Farmer served 16 years in the National Guard achieving the rank of Sergeant. He is preceded in death by his parents Hamlin and Lela Farmer; daughter, Tiffany Farmer Flowers; grandson, Joshua Farmer; and brother James Earl Farmer. Mr. Farmer is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Walker Farmer; son, Steven Ray (Beth) Farmer; and granddaughters, Autumn and Ashleigh Farmer. Pallbearers will be Mike Farmer, Edward Walker, Rodney Walker, Kevin Wallace, Eugene Carr, and Rawley Green. Talladega Funeral Home will direct the services.
