Joe passed away Thursday morning, September 15, 2016 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Joe was born on March 11, 1943 to Opher “Pete” and Maebell Hudgins in Talladega. He was a lifelong resident of Talladega and a member of Faith Freewill Church. Joe was employeed by Wehadkee Yarn Mills for over 20 years. In his later years, he went to work at Talladega Funeral Home, where he quickly became a cornerstone for the business. Families he encountered knew he would be there to assist them through their hard times. He always knew the right words to say to bring comfort and peace to those in need.
On December 28, 2015, Joe and his wife Faye celebrated 50 long and beautiful years of marriage. They raised a loving close-knit family, always having family gatherings at their home. He was a loving father and grandfather who genuinely enjoyed spending time with all his family. Joe was known as “PawPaw” to his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and even to their friends. His grandchildren and great grandchildren were his pride and joy. He taught them how to hunt and how to fish, and invaluable life lessons that only a PawPaw can teach.
He is preceded in death by his parents Opher “Pete” and Maebell Hudgins, his sister Faye Gay, his brother Clyde Ray Hudgins, and his son James Earl “Peanut” Heath.
He leaves behind his loving wife Faye Hudgins; his children: Shane Hudgins(Donna), Angela Dial(Tim) and Jeffery Barnett; his grandchildren: James Matthew Hudgins(Alyssa), Brittany Boozer(Jonathan), Tyler Barger, Kandie Bowman(Drake), Zack Dial(Brittany Hood), Alyssa Hudgins, Malachi Dial, Josh Dial, and Peyton Hudgins; his great grandchildren: Dalton and Eli Bowman, Jaxson and Adley Hudgins and Jorden Boozer; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
His grandchildren and great grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
