Mr. James "Jim" Wesley Mathis' Obituary
Funeral Services for James “Jim” Wesley Mathis, 63 of Talladega, will be Saturday, March 26, 2016 at 11 AM at Limbaugh Chapel Church with Shane Hughes officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday night from 6 to 8 PM at Talladega Funeral Home. Mr. Mathis passed away Tuesday morning at UAB in Birmingham.
Jim was a member of the Class of 1972 and graduated from Alabama School for the Deaf. He worked for the Alabama Department of Transportation and retired after 25 years of service. After retirement, he went to work for R.K Allen Oil Company. He was employed by Allen Oil for 11 years. Jim was a godly man and an avid fisherman. He was a devoted family man with the biggest heart and a contagious smile. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and will be dearly missed.
Jim leaves behind his loving wife of 42 years, Jimmie Nell Mathis; his daughters Julie Hughes (Shane) and Jana Gambrell (Cameron); his grandchildren: James Hughes (Grace), Cody Hughes, Katelyn Hughes, Cam Gambrell, and Madelyn Gambrell; his twin great grandsons: J.W. and J.C. Hughes; and his brothers: Jack Mathis(Phyllis) and Marty Mathis.
Pallbearers will be: Keith Allen, Ken Allen, Jr., Matthew Jones, Jonathan Jones, Jerry Pearson, and Ron Goodenough. The family would also like to recognize the employees of R.K. Allen Oil as honorary pallbearers.
