Mr. Eric Stanley Hawkins Sr.'s Obituary
Mr. Eric Stanley Hawkins, Sr., age 79, of Opelika, Alabama, passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at his residence. A proud patriot and dedicated servant to his country, Mr. Hawkins honorably served in the United States Army for more than 19 years, retiring with the rank of Sergeant First Class (SFC). During his military career, he earned numerous awards and ribbons in recognition of his commitment, leadership, and faithful service to his nation.
Mr. Hawkins was a man of strength, discipline, and quiet wisdom who carried great pride in his military service and in the family he loved dearly. He will be remembered for his steadfast spirit, loyalty, and the lasting impact he made on those who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara Hawkins; his son, Michael Hawkins; and his daughter, Janie Elizabeth Hawkins.
Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Eric Stanley Hawkins II; his brother, Bradford Lee Hawkins; his brother-in- law, James “Jim” Smith; his dear friend, Katie Morgan; along with extended family members and friends who will miss him greatly.
A graveside service for Mr. Hawkins will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Robert Earl Sanders officiating. Full military honors will be rendered in appreciation for his faithful and honorable service to the United States of America.
Cosby Funeral Home will direct the service.
