Emma Gene Barnes' Obituary
Emma Gene Barnes, 84, passed away on May 9, 2017, with her loving family by her side. Visitation will be at Talladega Funeral Home, Thursday, May 11, 2017, from 6pm-8pm. The Funeral Service will take place at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Friday, May 12, 2017, at 2pm. The Rev. Clyde Pettus will officiate. Interment will follow in the adjoining cemetery. She was born August 7, 1932, in Talladega, Alabama. She is preceded in death by her husband, Billy R. Barnes, of 49 years; father, Otis C. Gaither; mother, Nannie M. Gaither; brothers, Clyde G. Gaither and William A. Gaither; sister, Lora M. Gaither. Mrs. Barnes was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and retired from Crown Textiles. She will be remembered for her love and care of family. She also loved collecting antique glassware with friends, reading, and working puzzles. She is survived by her son, Roy (Judy) Barnes; grandchildren, Christopher (Anna) Barnes, Brooke (Frankie) Perez, and Ryan Sanders; great-grandchildren, Carson Perez, Layla Perez, and Sophie Sanders; brothers, Paul (Edwina) Gaither, Louie (Brenda) Gaither, Talmadge (Sherry) Gaither; sisters, Nettie (Ray) Studdard, Lillie (Donald) Dobbs; and sister-in-law, Elaine Gaither. Pallbearers will be Christopher Barnes, Ryan Sanders, Harry Gaither, Steven Gaither, Tim Gaither, Billy Wayne Hazel, Jim Hazel, and Jonathan Weldon. Honorary Pallbearers are Paul Gaither, Louie Gaither, Talmadge Gaither, Ray Studdard, and Donald Dobbs.
