Lincoln- Colonel Eldred Donald Merkl, US Air Force (Retired), of Lincoln, Alabama passed away on Tuesday, January 16, 2024. Graveside service for Colonel Merkl will be Saturday, February 10, 2024 at his family farm, 636 Merkl Lane in Lincoln at 12:30pm with Rev. Robert Earl Sanders officiating. He is preceded in death by 2 sons: Dennis Dirk Merkl, and Victor Kent Merkl; He is survived by his wife: Anne Merkl; son: Monte Dean Merkl; 3 grandchildren: Dirk Andrew Merkl, Brenton Scott Merkl, Breanna Grace Merkl. He has left a legacy of love, compassion, and kindness and blessed many people along the way. The family has been fortunate to have him in their daily lives. He will be missed dearly.
