Christine Shropshire's Obituary
Talladega-Christine Shropshire of Talladega, Alabama passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on February 8, 2021 at the age of 97. She is preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Lula Moore Allen; husband, Hubert Shropshire; son, Hubert “Junebug” Shropshire, Jr; daughter, Linda Sue Faulkner; brother, Harold Allen; daughter in law, Carolyn Shropshire. She is survived by her son, Tommy (Kathy) Shropshire; sister, Earline Atkinson; son in law, Bobby Faulkner; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by special nieces who were like daughters, Rita (Rodney) Williams; Derenda (Scotty) Bishop; Draima (Rick) Whitmire; Carol Duncan and Sandea (Larry) Dollar. Christine was known for her hospitality and for hosting the best parties for her kids and their neighborhood friends and cousins around Mount Olive Circle. Prior to her husband Hubert’s death, she was a loving caretaker and together, they enjoyed listening to records and having friends visit them. Until her recent decline, she and her sister, Earline, were always busy with their weekly trips to the thrift store, cleaning doctor’s offices and breeding party poodles. She loved her dogs like her own children. She has always prided herself on her independence and her flower beds and vegetable garden. Christine retired from Palm Beach and was a talented seamstress that loved to sew for others, especially her grandchildren. She will always be remembered for her dry sense of humor and unpredictable comments that always kept her family smiling. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 from 1:00PM-3:00PM In the Talladega Funeral Home Chapel. The service will follow at 3:00PM with Bro. Rusty Stephens officiating. Pallbearers are her grandsons and great grandsons: Britt Shropshire; Gabe Shropshire; Rob Wyatt; Butch Yates; Jerry Cromer; Jerry Dyer; Blake Lackey; Zac Wyatt; and Joseph Lacy. Honorary Pallbearers: Rodney Williams; Scotty Bishop; Duffy Sanders; and Perry Patterson. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to the Ironaton Church of Christ building fund. Talladega Funeral Home will direct the service.
