Mr. Charles Shelby Baggett's Obituary
Talladega-Charles Shelby Baggett, 93, passed away Monday, January 4, 2021. Mr. Baggett was born in Winston, GA and was the fifth child of Gurley and Cornelia Baggett. The family moved to Birmingham, Alabama in 1942 where he attended Jones Valley High School. He later became a Railroader in which he retired from US Steel as a locomotive Engineer. He was married to Mary Nell Presley Baggett and was blessed with two children, Shelby and Edward. He is preceded In death by his parents, Gurley and Cornelia Baggett; wife, Mary Nell Baggett; 3 brothers, and sister in laws, John (Ruth), Jack (Claudine) and Harold (Lois ) Baggett; 2 sisters, and brother in laws, Elise McClendon (Berwin) and Mildred Simpson (Loey) ; 1 nephew, Steven Luker; 1 niece, Rebecca Luker; 1 grandchild, David Habshey. He is survived by his children, Edward (Glenda) Baggett; Shelby (Jeff) Bishop; sister, Martha (Lamar) Hales; 2 grandchildren; Nick Habshey; Amanda Vick; several great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Baggett was Baptist by faith and a long time active member of the Lincoln Baptist Church. A graveside service will be Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at the Lincoln Cemetery at 1:00PM with Rev. Randy Howell officiating. In lieu of flowers the family has ask that donations be made to Lincoln Baptist Church. Talladega Funeral Home will direct the service.
