Mrs. Brenda Faye Gortney's Obituary
Mrs. Brenda Faye Gortney, age 79, of Munford, Alabama, passed away peacefully at her residence on Thursday, April 23, 2026.
Brenda was a woman of deep faith, having given her heart to the Lord at the age of 12 and remaining steadfast in her walk with Him throughout her life. She found joy in life’s simple blessings—tending to her garden, crocheting with care, and spending time with those she loved most. Her gentle spirit and unwavering devotion to her family will be cherished and remembered always.
She is survived by her best friend and devoted husband of 62 years, Henry Gortney; her children, Bob Gortney (Michele), Steven Gortney (Michelle), and Becky Dunn (Lonnie); her sister, Linda Reaves; along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought her immense pride and happiness.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dan and Velma Smith; her son, Jimmy “Pete” Gortney; her grandson, Christopher Gortney; and her granddaughter, Sierra Haynie.
A graveside service for Mrs. Gortney will be held on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Bethlehem United Methodist Cemetery in Munford, Alabama, with Pastor Jeff Rutledge officiating.

Brenda’s life was a testament to faith, love, and quiet strength, and her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
