Talladega-Betty Christine Bates, 67, passed away on December 7, 2020. Mrs. Bates enjoyed spending time with her grandkids, family and friends. She was an avid Alabama fan, Roll Tide. She is preceded in death by her Husband James Bates; her son, Tony Eugene Pettus; her stepfather, Billy Wren Galloway; her brother, Billy Odell Galloway. She is survived by her mother, Joann Harris; 1 son, Jimmy Wren (Catrina) Bates; 1 daughter, Stephanie (Darrell) Hamby; 1 brother, James “Red” Howard; 1 sister, Beverly Howard; 1 grandson, Troy Bates (Megan); 6 granddaughters, EmaLeigh Bates; Jaycie Bates; Cadence Bates; Madison Pettus; Katelyn Pettus; Carrie (Stephen) Williams and 1 great granddaughter, Elliana Bates and a nonbirth son, Chad Phillips. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 11, 2020 from 5:00PM-8:00PM in the Talladega Funeral Home Chapel for a Time of Remembrance for Christine “Darlin” Bates. In lieu of flowers the family has ask that donations be made to the Cancer Society or Diabetic Research. Talladega Funeral Home will direct the service.
